The National Progressive Schools' Conference is an association of senior secondary schools across the country and has 195 leading private schools under its umbrella. The N.P.S.C. started in 1973. All the member schools of the National Progressive Schools’ Conference are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education.
Known for its collaborative work in teaching learning practices,policy making, scholastic and co-scholastic initiatives and reforms in education, the members of the N.P.S.C. work in collaboration with Government organizations such as the National Council of Educational Research and Training, the National University of Educational Planning and Administration, the Indian Institutes of Management and the Indian Institutes of Technology, Central Board of Secondary Education, DOE, Govt of NCT and other National and International Bodies in an effort to bring about qualitative changes in education.
We have strengthened our partnerships with a variety of international agencies which range from the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, British Council, the Italian Culture centre, the Cervantes Institute, Max Muller Bhawan, several Embassies and Consulates.
We continue to fulfil our motto ‘Quality, Commitment and Excellence’ in Education.
Many national and international issues are discussed during the N.P.S.C. meetings. Right to Information Act (R.T.I), Right to Education Act (R.T.E), Juvenile Justice Act, Corporal Punishment Act, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and many other important reforms have been addressed in this forum.
New endeavours introduced by the C.B.S.E have been developed with the help of the Principals of NPSC schools. The CBSE-i curriculum, the Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation Manual, the Value Education Kit, the Adolescent Education Programme, the Gender and Health Manuals, text books on Media studies, vocational education, education in art, hospitality etc have all been brought out together in collaboration with the CBSE and NPSC Principals.
Various mentoring and monitoring programmes, training of teachers, workshops on CCE and CBSE-I are also conducted by the Principals of N.P.S.C schools across the country.
Many N.P.S.C. Principals are on the Governing Boards of the Central Board of Secondary Education, the National Council of Educational Research and Training, the National University of Educational Planning and Administration, Planning Commission and the National Council for Teacher Education.
Members are on the Curriculum, Examination, Affiliation and Inspection Committees as well as on the Advisory Boards of various State Governments.
Our presence is felt nationally and internationally world across the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, Europe, United Kingdom and America.
